A lot of people have been asking when the Ekka Show Holiday will be for the Moreton Bay Region, after the movement of the Brisbane City Council date from a Wednesday (12th August) to Friday (14th August), and initial talk by the Redland City Council to move theirs.
After consulting with the office of Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Division 7, Denise Sims, the Kallangur Business Association can confirm the Ekka Public Holiday date for the Moreton Bay Region is still remaining on:
Monday the 10th August
Yes, the Ekka is still unfortunately cancelled for 2020, (along with our MBR local agricultural shows), but the councils are still maintaining these public holidays to make long weekends. In order to encourage more people from Brisbane and surrounds, to travel within the state and stimulate regional economies.
